Swim Test Slice #1

You know when you’re at a public
pool and you have to take a swim test? I
hate when I’m the first in line for the test. When I’m stand in the line
waiting, every minute getting closer to the pool. I know why this makes me so
nervous, I know how to swim, and I’m not bad at it, it’s just very stressful. Once
I get to the front of the line, and the lifeguard blows the whistle for me to
get in the pool. In my head the only thing I can think is “if you don’t pass
you’ll have to wear a life vest.” I jump in. I think at these moments I’m the
most tense. I start swimming, but harder than normal. I start swimming for my
life. Once I finally reach the end of the lane I push myself out of the pool so
out of breath, one of the lifeguards puts a lame sharpie smiley face on my hand
as I walk away and join all my friends.
So glad you got that 'lame sharpie smiley face" though. Whenever we have a 'test', it is stressful. You've captured that feeling very well, Lily!
ReplyDeleteI really like the description, and how those images were clear in my mind.
ReplyDeleteI really know how you feel, I could see everything you were talking about. Nice Slice :)
ReplyDeleteNice slice I have never experienced that with swimming but I otherwise understand.
ReplyDeleteThat was a really good way of portraying how it feels when you have to take the swim test. I sometimes feel the same way.
