Picture this:
It’s Christmas morning and
everyone’s finally awake, so now you can open presents. One by one, everyone
gets fantastic presents. Each give you open you get pleasantly surprised. Then
it’s time for Santa presents (aka, the BEST presents). 1 present, 2 presents,
now it’s your turn. The present is handed to you. It feels to right in your
hand. You turn the present over and take off all the wrapping paper. You hold
it in your hands and stare at it. You feel yourself crack a fake smile. All
that’s running in your head is “what the
heck Santa, why would you do this to me?” You turn the box over in your
hand as the next person gets handed a present. Why would anyone get you – a
9 year old girl – an alarm clock for Christmas?

Well maybe you need an alarm clock! ;) Nice SOL
ReplyDeleteI like this slice. You really captured the moment of christmas, and getting really cool presents. Then out of nowhere, an alarm clock? It adds a funny twist to the slice.
ReplyDeleteYou've captured the anticipation and the letdown, Lily. I remember getting soap one year, not from Santa, but still. . .
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate. That is a terrible present!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I had gotten some pretty bad presents... Nice slice
ReplyDeleteYou built some great anticipation. I couldn't wait to find out what you got, especially after you wrote this: You feel yourself crack a fake smile. After that, I knew I wouldn't be good.
ReplyDeleteI've had to crack that fake smile before too. Great slice. mrssurridge
I can relate. I would hate that present.

ReplyDeleteWow, that is a not so pleasing present. I hope you got goos presents to make up for it. Great slice. :) ;)
