Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy

#2 in the Gallagher Girls series

While Cammie is being debriefed for a mission for the first time, she’s hoping her mom would want to stay and watch but unfortunately her mom has “things” to do. Cammie wonders about what kinds of “things” her mom is doing, but can do nothing about it. Once she gets back to school she goes to the library.  There she listens in on a conversation between her mom and her teacher about the black thorn. Her and her friends become determined to find out what or who the black thorn is/are. I have really enjoyed this book so far.

Forgive Me

Forgive me,
But I didn’t feel like telling you about the ditch,
And I am dreadfully sorry you fell in,
But to be fair,
I thought I would be very funny,

And it was…

Elsewhere

Elsewhere week two
SPOILERS
After Liz decides to sneak, she realizes that she doesn't want to a bit too late, luckily her friends come after her and bring her to the shore. Liz and Owen grow younger by the day and soon Liz is seven days old as they bring her to the river. Owen is sad to know that Liz is gone, but he doesn't truly understand it considering the fact that he's three. I really enjoyed this book, however it does get confusing a some points.

Beyond

beyond the earth,
beyond the moon,
beyond the sun and stars,
there is a place,
that cannot be replaced,
even if you tried.

For if you tried,
you'd be upset,
because the only thing you found,
was the amazing place beyond compare,
beyond the sun and stars.

359410
Liz is a fifteen year old girl who was killed in a hit and run car accident. She wakes up on the SS Nile, a boat to Elsewhere. Once she gets to Elsewhere she finds her grandma Betty. As she starts to get used to Elsewhere she makes a new friend, Owen, who teaches her to parallel park. Soon after Liz realizes that she loves Owen, and Owen learns that he loves Liz. But Owen having been in Elsewhere longer than Liz is much younger. So when Owens wife dies and comes to Elsewhere he breaks up with Liz, who is crushed. This book is very good, but at some points it is very hard to follow.

Flooding

The time our basement flooded was not a freak accident. It was however an accident. The rain was coming down hard. The water was filling up the path in our backyard. I stood at the back door and watched as the rain comes down filling up the yard. I look down and the floor in a little wet so I run to get a towel. When I get back I see my mom looking at the pathway looking like a river. She unlocks the door and opens it. Water comes crashing in like a river. She pushes the door closed hard. I look over at my mom and smile.

I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have To Kill You, by Ally Carter

Cammie is invisible at her school, which is good, because Cammie goes to a school for spies. She goes unnoticed for days. Until one day she walks into town on a mission and instantly gets caught and needs a cover. Cammie the spy, who speaks 15 languages, takes PHD level chemistry, advanced martial arts in PE, and can kill a man in 7 different ways. But after she’s seen she becomes: Cammie, a homeschooled for religious reasons girl, with a cat named Suzie and very strict parents who take night classes at the library. The characters in this book are very strong, and the plot is very vivid. I would recommend this book to anyone that liked The Heist Society, Cheating At Solitaire, and, They All Fall Down, all by Ally Carter.
