Cut the Rope

We cut the rope,
Needing hope,

We all scream,
Sunset gleams,

The sunset swing,
Is an amazing thing.

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter

Here is an update about what is happening in my book this week:

Cammie, Bex, Liz, and the rest of the class go on a mission to DC. When Cammie is heading over to see Dorthy's ruby slippers when a boy asks if he can walk her there. Cammie really doesn't want to go because boys don't go on cove ops missions to Dorthy's slippers.

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy is the 2nd book in the Gallagher Girls series followed by Dont Judge a Girl by Her Cover.

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter

This is my second week reading Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter.

After Cammie finds out that her dead father and her Cov Opts teacher when to the same school, she starts snooping. Excited that she knows what Blackthorn is she lets her spy training kick in and starts to spy. Trying to be calm she asks one of her teachers if there is an all boys academy. This book is good, however I do think it can be a little bit confusing at times.

My Favorite Trip

My favorite trip to somewhere,
where ever it may be,
to see something floating,
or have grass come up to my knee.

My favorite trip to somewhere,
where ever it may be,
to do a figure eight,
or still get somewhere late.

My favorite trip to somewhere,
where ever it may be,
to see DC,
or travel with my family.

My favorite trip to somewhere,
where ever it may be,
not sure if its happened,
not sure when it will be.

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy

#2 in the Gallagher Girls series

While Cammie is being debriefed for a mission for the first time, she’s hoping her mom would want to stay and watch but unfortunately her mom has “things” to do. Cammie wonders about what kinds of “things” her mom is doing, but can do nothing about it. Once she gets back to school she goes to the library.  There she listens in on a conversation between her mom and her teacher about the black thorn. Her and her friends become determined to find out what or who the black thorn is/are. I have really enjoyed this book so far.

Forgive Me

Forgive me,
But I didn’t feel like telling you about the ditch,
And I am dreadfully sorry you fell in,
But to be fair,
I thought I would be very funny,

And it was…

Elsewhere

Elsewhere week two
SPOILERS
After Liz decides to sneak, she realizes that she doesn't want to a bit too late, luckily her friends come after her and bring her to the shore. Liz and Owen grow younger by the day and soon Liz is seven days old as they bring her to the river. Owen is sad to know that Liz is gone, but he doesn't truly understand it considering the fact that he's three. I really enjoyed this book, however it does get confusing a some points.

Beyond

beyond the earth,
beyond the moon,
beyond the sun and stars,
there is a place,
that cannot be replaced,
even if you tried.

For if you tried,
you'd be upset,
because the only thing you found,
was the amazing place beyond compare,
beyond the sun and stars.

359410

As she starts to get used to Elsewhere she makes a new friend, Owen, who teaches her to parallel park. Soon after Liz realizes that she loves Owen, and Owen learns that he loves Liz. But Owen having been in Elsewhere longer than Liz is much younger. So when Owens wife dies and comes to Elsewhere he breaks up with Liz, who is crushed. This book is very good, but at some points it is very hard to follow.

Flooding

The time our basement flooded was not a freak accident. It was however an accident. The rain was coming down hard. The water was filling up the path in our backyard. I stood at the back door and watched as the rain comes down filling up the yard. I look down and the floor in a little wet so I run to get a towel. When I get back I see my mom looking at the pathway looking like a river. She unlocks the door and opens it. Water comes crashing in like a river. She pushes the door closed hard. I look over at my mom and smile.

I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have To Kill You, by Ally Carter

Cammie is invisible at her school, which is good, because Cammie goes to a school for spies. She goes unnoticed for days. Until one day she walks into town on a mission and instantly gets caught and needs a cover. Cammie the spy, who speaks 15 languages, takes PHD level chemistry, advanced martial arts in PE, and can kill a man in 7 different ways. But after she’s seen she becomes: Cammie, a homeschooled for religious reasons girl, with a cat named Suzie and very strict parents who take night classes at the library. The characters in this book are very strong, and the plot is very vivid. I would recommend this book to anyone that liked The Heist Society, Cheating At Solitaire, and, They All Fall Down, all by Ally Carter.

Slicing

The whole SOLC has helped me really improve my writing. I think that just writing often really helps me get better.  Reading everyone’s slices has helped me see what other people are writing, and the different  ways to write. It was a real challenge to think of something to write about every day. I think that even though it was hard, I think it was very beneficial and helpful for me and my writing. I can truly see a difference between slice 1 and slice 30. My fiction, and non-fiction writing has improved so much and I think that I have the Two Writing Teachers: Classroom Slice of Life Challenge to thank for that.

Not New York

We were all set to go to New York tomorrow. Bags packed with everything I need. So excited to go, but then, I sneezed. I couldn’t stop. I was coughing, and sneezing, and I had a fever.  I went to go lie down and take a nap, but when I woke up I still felt awful. Hoping, praying that we could still go. But no we canceled the trip and I didn’t go to school on the next Monday.

Ode to Assemblies

You're boring,

Uneventful,

Not interesting,

Dull,

Unexciting,

And no one listens you ever.

So please,

Stop interrupting my work time for me and everyone else to not listen to you.

So please, please, please,

Just let me go back to work.

What would you do?

What would you do?
What would you do if a genie gave you three wishes?
What would you do if your dog gave you kisses?
What would you do if the movie was real?
What would you do if you were forced to steel?
What would you do if the project was due?
What would you do if it didn’t matter to you?
What would you do if the world was ending?
What would you do the text was still sending?
What would you do if you had to choose between a suit or pot of gold?
What would you do if all the text was bold?
What would you do?

Looking

I can never find what I’m looking for,

It’s always in the last place I look,

And I know why,

Because once I find it,

I stop looking.

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

SPOILERS

When Tris goes into the Weapons Lab instead of Caleb she finds the person she saved David standing before her with a gun. He shoots her several times and eventually she collapses to the floor. When Tobias finds out he vows to give up guns and becomes a politician. I think that the characters were very strong and the book was very descriptive, I really enjoyed this book however I think that it was not the best of the series, and that it could have been better.

Math SOLC

Dear Math,
Please stop asking us to find X,
I don’t enjoy it, Nobody does.
I was good at math,
Then they started putting the alphabet in there,
And poof,
No clue what’s happening.
Really be an adult and solve your own problems.
And whatever you do,

Do not go ask Y.

Bananagrams

Bananagrams is a game were you get tiles and you make your own crossword/scrabble board. We’re all very competitive and we have our own set of rules because of it. Every holiday we’re away we play it at least until three in the morning one day. You’re not allowed to stop until you give a three game notice. Everyone gets so tired we start going insane, and we have many jokes and songs that we now bring up whenever we can. And that is the true story of what happens at three AM Christmas Eve.

My Typical Lunch SOLC

12:25 : I walk to lunch with my friends, and sit down at the picnic tables on the patio. I grab my food to heat up, and walk inside to the microwave.

12:35 : Most people are done eating, except for the people with popcorn, and dessert. I throw away my trash and walk back to my table were all my friends are.

12:45 : Everyone heads out to recess. Me and my friends all go to the field, and start walking around the gravel path.

12:55 : We’re all bored. Walking in a circle talking about the same show over and over.

1:00 : Everyone starts to talk about how cold or hot they are, we all want to sit down but don’t admit
it. We want to go inside, and be done with recess, but no one wants to go to math.

1:15 : We make our final lap and start to walk inside.

Princesses SOLC #19

If a Disney princess can:

Find true love,

Become a man,

Sleep for one hundred years,

Build and ice castle,

Learn to walk,

Turn into a frog,

Turn back into a human,

Fight a villain,

All in under two hours,

Then I should be able to do all of it in my whole life.

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Tris and Tobias create a plan to mind wash everybody involved in the brain washing of the Chicago Experiment. Tobias still feels guilty for befriending the girl who is responsible for Uriah death. This book is really great however, it’s very sad knowing what happens because someone spoiled it for me.  I am very excited to see what’s  coming next! I waiting VERY patiently for tomorrow when I go see the new Insergent movie, I hope it's as good as the first one.

My Mussels Were So Sore SOLC #20

My arms were so sore after I made the decision that 200 pushups in a row was a good idea. I couldn’t pick anything heavy for a week.  My arms felt awful and anytime they moved it hurt. But eventually they stopped hurting and I couldn’t walk without limping for two days because I did something to my knee. This little slice took place over maybe a week and a half.

Home Away From Home SOLC #18

I shouldn’t call camp my home away from home. That’s what everyone says. Camp is not, nor will it ever bye, my home away from home. Camp is part of me. When I stride into camp I feel happier than ever. I feel at peace when I look at the forest green trees outside the cabin window. Camp is a place for me to just be me, not to like everyone else. Camp is where you tell the jokes and quotes that at school would make you the weird kid, but at camp it makes you loved. Camp is where you make family and friends. I’ve made lots of family, family that will always be there for me. I’ve made friends that will turn into family soon. I make memories and I’ve made my whole life. I’ve made myself at camp. I would be so different without it. Camp is where you don’t have to worry about looking weird because you know that you do. Camp IS home.

My Opinion SOLC #17

I hate when people ask for my opinion then get offended by it.

Because if you’re going to get offended by what I’m about to say, then don’t ask me to say it.

When someone gets offended this is what plays in my head:

Oh, your offended by my opinion that you asked me to give?

Wow, you she hear the ones I keep to myself!

The Dinosaurs SOLC #16

When I was in kindergarten I had a dream. My whole class was in the desert, but not the real desert, just sand as far as you could see. I was the leader of my class, and very proud. There were two dead bushes about 10 yards apart. There was a t-rex chasing us from bush to bush. It was terrifying to a 4 year old, but now I just think it’s hilarious.

The Worst Present SOLC #15

Picture this:

It’s Christmas morning and everyone’s finally awake, so now you can open presents. One by one, everyone gets fantastic presents. Each give you open you get pleasantly surprised. Then it’s time for Santa presents (aka, the BEST presents). 1 present, 2 presents, now it’s your turn. The present is handed to you. It feels to right in your hand. You turn the present over and take off all the wrapping paper. You hold it in your hands and stare at it. You feel yourself crack a fake smile. All that’s running in your head is “what the heck Santa, why would you do this to me?” You turn the box over in your hand as the next person gets handed a present. Why would anyone get you – a 9  year old girl – an alarm clock for Christmas?

Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover SOLC #14

Don’t judge a book by its cover,

My math textbook has pictures of kids enjoying math.

Smiling, happy, excited,

Liars.

Bike Wheels SOLC #13

I’m biking on our street in my brand new bike, doing doughnuts around and around. Having so much fun. Then, I hit the curb. I get up my knee a little scratched, I pick my bike up. I look down, the tire looks like a roller coaster. I go over and tell my mom, she looks at in confused.
I didn’t go biking the rest of the night.

But still we were confused about why my tire did what it did. Long story short, the tires were recalled and I got a new bike.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn Week 2

Since I have already written a report on this book I have decided to adapt a few Frozen songs to fit A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Do You Want To Go To The Market?
(to the tune of: do you want to build a snowman)

Do you want to go to the market?
Come on let's go get bread
That's all we ever do anymore
Just get out the door
We just went yesterday
It used to be so much fun
But now it's not
I wish I knew why
Do you want to go to the market
We don't just have to get bread
Go on kids
Okay bye...

Mom Loves Neely More
(to the tune of: love is an open door)

Okay, can I just, say something crazy

I love crazy!

All my life has been a series of mom loving me
And then suddenly Neely was born...

I was just thinking ‘Cause like...,
I've been wanting my whole life for mom to love me
And maybe it's the market talking or the change in my age

mom likes him...
Mom like him

I see that look...

And it's nothing like I've ever gotten before!
Mom loves Neely more!
Mom loves Neely more!
Mom love Neely more!

Loves him!
Loves him!
Loves him!
Loves him!

Mom loves Neely more.
I mean it's crazy...
What

How much mom loves—
Neely
That's what makes me so upset!

I've never met a mom--

Who loves one kid so much more!
Wow, that's really sad!
This book has no synchronization
Is has not one explanation

Me--
And Neely--
We--
Just--
Can't compete.

Say goodbye...
Say goodbye...

To mom loving me
I don't even feel it anymore!

Mom loves Neely more!
Mom loves Neely more!
Life is nothing more when she,

Loves him!
Loves him!!
Loves him!!!
Loves him!!!!

Mom loves Neely more...

Can I say something not crazy?
Will you go to the market with me me?

Can I say something even less crazier? Sure!

For The 39th Time In This Chapter
(to the tune of: for the first time in forever)

The market is open, so’s that store
I don't think I can do this anymore
Who knew you could get so much with just a dime?
For years I’ve roamed crowded streets.
Why have a coffee with no cream?
Finally we're going back to the market

There’ll be actual real live people
Some of the will be totally strange
Wow, am I so ready for this to change

'Cuz for the 38th time in this chapter
We'll go to the market, once again.
For the 38th time in this chapter
We'll be vague with something important

Don’t know if it's more dull than boring
But it's somewhere in the zone
'Cuz for the 38th time in this chapter
Mom will love Neely more.

I can’t wait to go to high school! (gasp) What if Go to.. College?

Tonight imagine me getting a raise, reading news papers big and small.
A picture of the market on the wall.
I suddenly see the librarian standing there, a mean old stranger, ignoring me
I wanna read every one these books

But then I'm at the market all evening,
Which is totally not bizarre
It's just like the life I’ve lead so far

For the 39 time in this chapter
There’ll be a market, they'll be vague
For the 39 time in this chapter
I wont be noticed by anyone

And I know it’s totally crazy
To dream I’d find go to school
But for the first time in forever
At least they kinda have a plot

Don’t do anything, don't be clear
Be the frustrating girl you always have been
Confusing, not clear, this would make a really weird show
Make one bad move and everyone will know

But it’s never just today (It’s just today)
The agony awaits (This agony awaits)
Tell Betty Smith her book's just no that great (That great)

For the 40th time in this chapter (Don’t do anything don't be clear)
I’m not getting anything I want  (Be the weird girl you always have been)
No chance to change my lonely world (Confusing)
No chance mom loves me more (Confusing, not clear, I never know)

I won't don't want to finish it tomorrow,
So it has to be today
'Cuz for the 39th time in this chapter
For the 39th time in this chapter
Everyone's in my way!

Hiking SOLC #12

As I sit down on the faded rainbow striped seats ready to go on a hike I look to the window, the sky, the mountains are glowing, I’m happy. I regret nothing, except maybe the 600 pound backpack. I can already tell it will be a great day. I smile. We reach our destination and hike up the hill. We decide to go further. As we approach the waterfall; backpack on, legs sore, shoulders heavy, we climb over the log and eat lunch. We tell stories and take pictures. Everyone climbs down and prepares to get back on the faded rainbow stripe seats.
